EDIT: Damn, alright. Wasn't expecting this level of interest! I should've been more clear as to whether this was a "comment to claim" or "interest check" journal. Sorry 'bout that.

I've gone ahead and filled up 3 slots, based on first-come first-serve. My apologies if you didn't get one; I'd take more, but I'm tired and busy and wouldn't want you to wait possibly months for a sketch to be completed. I'll definitely open up more once this batch is done.

(You can request up to 5 sketches as desired per slot, btw)
*Stressing this is an experimental offer. Results may vary. I can only promise you don't be disappointed if you like my recent work!)

Thanks for everyone's support -u-

==============================

I haven't done enough color in Procreate to know what the app's capable/not capable of, so I don't have any "recent" references but...

Would anyone be interested in some very experimental $15 colored sketches? (By that, I probably mean single-pass linework, with base color and shading, the works). You're going to have to trust my style and skills here.

I may or may not have been subjected to paying an uncomfortable amount of money on restaurant food lately *sweats*

I just want to draw something different for once. It's been forever since I've taken commissions.

I hope everyone is well!

commissions.xuanchau.com/index…

If anyone's interested, check it out and let me know of any feedback! I'd love to hear what I could improve to make things more clear. Let me know if buttons could be moved around, if instructions should be changed, etc. And any feature suggestion to make the site more functional.

I'm by no means a web designer so there's probably a million mistakes (I got roasted on a JAMstack forum for using px measurements for everything but I was too tired to comb through every file and translate the units to rem gdi, one day)

Let me know if the prices seem fair as well! I know there's a huge range; complexity fees have been a huge issue for me in the past.

Thanks guys c:

To cut to the chase, yes, my 2.5 year old ASUS has finally eaten dirt. Expected, to be fair. The thing‘s battery badly needed to be replaced and it went though a weird phase of almost being too corrupted to be repaired. Guess the motherboard is finally fried.

Only a week or so ago, my dad purchased a 12 inch iPad Pro. Thing’s massive. I use it for digital notetaking and some drawing. I didn’t intend on having to replace my laptop so soon after. I can’t do any coding work without it, unfortunately.

So yes, I’m taking very cheap, very bad, sketchy IPad Pro commissions! To preface, I have the Apple Pencil (so there’s some pressure) and am doing the magic in Sketchbook (which supports basic layers, overlays, and transparency). Here’s a terrible example:

A31c7cd9-0f43-44a3-988e-bcba5d98b39d

RULES:

- Contact me any way you’d like, specifying the # of hours you’d like me to work and with any character references

- Payment can be sent via Venmo (preferred to avoid fee) or PayPal. I take payment upfront.

- I’ll sketch continuously for the paid time. You may specify what type of sketches you’d like of your character, or you can leave it up to me for a variety.

- Specify if you’d like color or shading (by default, I include simple shading but no color)

I’d like to note that these are NOT emergency commissions. We are in fine financial standing. I just feel increasingly bad about the large electronics investments I’m layering on my parents. I’m aiming to pay for at least half the thing if possible.

Order something if you feel like it! There’s no max or min. Schoolwork might just delay completion.

Thanks again!

EDIT: The issue with the expandable squares only working in Chrome and Safari has been resolved! The first version now works in all (important) browsers (because I'm too tired to deal with IE).

Specifically, the view product info button on the following page and how I'm displaying commission pricing and informationThere are 2 versions, the live one and the alternative I'm working on:

1) commissions.xuanchau.com/servi…

^ This is the live version. Currently, it expands the card to show product details and some additional costs without requiring another page.
Pros:
  • Elegant card expansion format
  • Minimalist and to-the-point info
  • Doesn't require a separate page
Cons:
  • I can only get it to work on Chrome and Safari. Other browsers will not expand the card correctly
  • According to a [coding professional] who tore apart my site, Javascript is Satan and should only be used in life-or-death. Unfortunately, this version uses JS
  • Bare-bones info. Might not be informative enough

2) <da:thumb id="1806001873950008"/>

^ Above is the ALTERNATIVE version I'm working on. This is a separate page from the first link which the view product info button brings you to. As you can see, as a separate page it provides much more detail, but it's a less elegant alternative.
Pros:
  • More informative and thorough
  • Slightly better at conveying nature of additional costs with examples
Cons:
  • Less elegant design
  • Requires an additional page
  • Currently looks ugly, though this can be improved

I ONLY need feedback on the nature of the product info button, not anything else! Both versions are very WIP.

What I would like to know from you guys:
  1. Which version, overall, do you prefer (keeping in mind the latter may be improved look-wise)?
  2. Is the fact that the first version only works in Chrome and Safari a massive problem to you?
  3. Is the info provided by the first version enough to send an informed email commission or do you want the info provided by the latter?

As well as any other critiques you would like to give!

Of course, THANKS SO MUCH for your guys' input, I appreciate you taking the time to help! I might throw sketches at those who give particularly helpful feedback ; )

Does anyone know a good, near-photo-accurate master database for animal anatomy? I've been looking on Google for them, but it's annoyingly difficult to find any accurate ones that aren't just tutorials or rough drawings meant for non-professional purposes.

I'm sure many of you have seen this style of reference floating around:

Related image

I have no idea where these images are from but this is exactly the type and quality of reference I am looking for. If any of you even know the specific source of this image (whether it's from online or a book) that would be so helpful.

Of course, anything else that comes close that you guys could recommend would also be very appreciated. If you know any anatomy books for various animals (although I'm not looking for any animal in particular; practicing anything would broaden my understanding) that are well-made please let me know!
